The Johnsonville Heritage Festival
The Johnsonville
Heritage Festival
The Johnsonville Heritage Festival will be held May 4th
and 5th, 2012 at Venters Landing (formerly Witherspoon’s Ferry, the
site where General Francis Marion received his commission).
Our committee decided in 2011 to combine the traditional Founder’s
Day Festival and the 2010 Rally at the River Festival to hopefully become an
annual event focused on the education about the area’s rich heritage along with
an emphasis placed on our woodlands and the scenic Lynches River.
On Friday night, we will have a live band along with the
militia soldiers who will be camping and preparing dinner for spectators as was
done during that period of time.
On Saturday, we will have a Bar-b-Que Chicken Cook-off (with
$1000 in prizes), various vendors from educational booths to food vendors, canoe/kayak
tours and helicopter rides. Entrance to the event is free to the public.
If you would like more information or would like to
participate in our event, please contact Ron Douglas or Kem Poston at
