The
City of Johnsonville is located in the lower end of Florence
County. The city was founded in 1913. Johnsonville is centrally
located close to it all but far away from the hustle and bustle
of big city traffic. Many major cities are located less than
an hour drive including Florence and Myrtle Beach.
The City of Johnsonville is home to Wellman Industries (the
cities largest employer) as well as several other electrical,
mechanical, and other small business. The city is proud that
it has one of the best academic school districts within the
region and state, Florence County School District Five, which
houses our elementary, middle, and high school.
The
historical significance of Johnsonville is a timeless artifact,
it includes stomping ground of General Francis Marion “The
Swamp Fox” during the Revolutionary War, and is also
home to the oldest Cyprus Wood Logs found to date.

Johnsonville
is also home to some of the best eating in the entire state.
The area has several restaurants that offer just what anyone

The city
of Johnsonville and the surrounding communities are home to
over 30 churches. All denominations are represented including
the Methodist faith, Baptist faith, Holiness faith, church of
God, AME, African Methodist, United Methodist, Pentecostal Holiness,
Catholic, and non denominational.
Johnsonville
has a rich history of academic achievement. Florence County
School District Five serves as the school system for the City
of Johnsonville. The district which houses an elementary,
middle, and high school are the pride of the Pee Dee.
Academically, Johnsonville
Schools are ranked in the top 10 percent in all subject areas.
In 2006, Johnsonville Middle School had the highest ranking
PACT (state testing) scores in the Pee Dee. The elementary
school continues to strive as they host several beneficial
programs for our area including a 4 year old kindergarten
program as well as a TBS head start program.
Academics
are not the only thing our school system takes pride in, our
Athletic Department is one of the highest ranked programs
in the state. The schools offer sports in volleyball, football,
cheerleading, basketball, baseball, softball, tennis, and
track and field. There is also a junior varsity as well as

The
Johnsonville area is home to the Wellman Country Club
and golf course. The course is open to the public daily.
The 18-hole "Wellman" course at the The Wellman
Club facility in Johnsonville, South Carolina features
7,018 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par
of 72. The course rating is 73.9 and it has a slope
rating of 129. Designed by Ellis Maples, ASGCA, the
Wellman golf course opened in 1970. Currently the course
is open and is in the process of renovations. For more

Fishing
and Hunting
The
area surrounding the Johnsonville area contain world
class fishing, and are abundant with white-tail deer,
turkey, hog, and upland game birds. As hunting is popular
throughout the region, hunting clubs and preserves are
easy to find and are open to new members. Additionally,
the region offers some 25 thousand acres of public access
to Francis Marion and Manchester State Forests.
Fishing
lovers can enjoy their sport on many of the lakes and
streams. The area has some excellent parks in the area
that allow fishing which becomes a year round hobby.
