The City of Johnsonville operates under a Council Form of Government. The council is made up of a six member elected body as well as the Mayor. All seats are on a four year cycle and are at large seats (the city is not divided into districts.)

The Regular Scheduled Meeting for the city is the first Tuesday of each month at 6pm in council chambers. A public forum is on the agenda at every meeting giving citizens the opportunity to express comments or concerns.

The public is invited to attend all meetings. For more information on the council form of government please visit www.masc.sc.

The City Hall building is dedicated to the life and memory of Teresa Powell Hanna. Teresa who tragically left this world on August 15, 2003 gave years to the City of Johnsonville.

She began her career with the city as assistant clerk then moved to the office of the Clerk and Treasurer. At the time of her death she was serving the city in the capacity of assistant City Administrator. Teresa was very devoted to her job and loved the city and people she worked with each day. She will always be remembered in our hearts.

"I’m Free"

Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free. I’m following the the path God has laid you see. I took his hands and when I heard his call turned my back and left it all,

I could not stay another day to laugh, to love to work to play. Tasks left undone must stay that way I found the peace at the close of day.

If my parting has left a void
Then fill it with remembered joys
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss
Oh yes, these things I too will miss.

Be not burdened with times of sorrow.
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life’s been full, I savored much,
Good friends, good times, a loved ones touch.

Perhaps my time seemed all to brief.
Don’t lengthen it now with undo grieve.
Lift up your heart, and peace to thee.
God wanted me now; He set me free.
