Housing Developments to Offer 45 New Units in Johnsonville

New development projects in the Johnsonville area will increase housing options for residents and boost the local economy.  Yorkshire at The Providence located on Chapman Drive will offer 37 multi-family units and Wade Jurney Homes has purchased eight lots in Persimmon Fields for single-family home construction.

“Many of our citizens are currently living in substandard conditions and the City of Johnsonville is pleased that our citizens will have these new housing options available,” said Mayor Steve Dukes.  “These developments also could attract new residents to our area and boost our local economy,” Dukes commented.

Yorkshire at the Providence will consist of four two-story buildings and will have 13 two-bedroom units and 24 three-bedrooms until available for lease beginning in May of 2019.   The apartment community will include a 1,200 square community room, an exercise room, a laundry room, computer room and an ADA accessible playground available for tenants’ use.

Developed by Trustmark Construction Corporation, the rental rates at Yorkshire are projected to range between $390 and $600 per month.  It is a tax credit-funded community and all tenants will be screened through background checks and credit reports.

Wade Jurney Homes representative Bruce Milavec presented the company’s development plans at the December 4 meeting of Johnsonville’s City Council.   The regional residential builder will begin construction of eight single-family homes on Deborah Court in the Persimmon Fields development in January 2019.  The homes will be offered for sale at prices beginning around $120,000 and the single and two-story homes will range from 1,400 to 2,000 square feet.

Milavec said the company would like to purchase more lots in Persimmon Fields for future development.  Wade Jurney Homes has communities in the Charleston, Florence and Myrtle Beach areas and is excited to be expanding into the Johnsonville market, according to Milavec.
